Centar za napredne studije (CNS) iz Sarajeva, Islam and Muslims Initiative (IMI), organizacija posvećena unapređenju dijaloga, razumijevanja i koegzistencije među različitim zajednicama sa sjedištem u Dohi i Al Jazeera Balkans organiziraju seminar Od Balkana do Gaze: kritička analiza genocida, koji će se održati 10. jula 2024. godine, od 17.00 do 19.45 sati u Narodnom pozorištu u Sarajevu.
Seminar Od Balkana do Gaze: Kritička analiza genocida ima za cilj rasvijetliti duboke i nepredvidive posljedice islamofobije od Balkana do Gaze, sa posebnim fokusom na njene historijske korijene i savremene manifestacije. Seminar će istraživati teme kao što su poređenje genocida u Srebrenici, opsade Sarajeva i genocida u Gazi koji se upravo dešava, rastući val islamofobije širom svijeta, te potencijalne veze između uspona desnice, islamofobije i kolonijalne ekspanzije u Palestini.
Uvodne napomene će dati Njena ekselencija Lolwah Rashid Al Khater, državna ministrica za međunarodnu saradnju Katara i dr. Ahmet Alibašić, direktor Centra za napredne studije.
Govornici na seminaru su:
- Njena ekselencija Nataša Pirc Musar, predsjednica Republike Slovenije,
- dr. Benjamina Karić, gradonačelnica Grada Sarajeva,
- David Hearst, glavni urednik portala Midlle East Eye i bivši glavni dopisnik The Guardiana, koji je izvještavao s Balkana za vrijeme 90-ih,
- Motaz Azaiza, palestinski fotoreporter,
- Refik Hodžić, stručnjak za tranzicijsku pravdu, koji je radio za Međunarodni krivični sud za bivšu Jugoslaviju u Den Haagu

Seminar FROM THE BALKANS TO GAZA: A CRITICAL EXAMINATION OF GENOCIDE
Center for Advanced Studies (CNS) in Sarajevo, The Islam and Muslims Initiative (IMI), a Doha-based organisation dedicated to promoting dialogue, understanding, and coexistence among diverse communities, and Al Jazeera Balkans organize the seminar From the Balkans to Gaza: A Critical Examination of Genocide on 10 July 2024, 5.00-7.45 p.m. at the National Theatre, in Sarajevo.
The seminar From the Balkans to Gaza: A Critical Examination of Genocide aims to shed light on the profound and unpredictable impacts of Islamophobia from the Balkans to Gaza, with a particular focus on its historical roots and its contemporary manifestations. The seminar will explore topics such as the comparison between the Srebrenica genocide, the Sarajevo siege, and the unfolding genocide in Gaza, the rising wave of Islamophobia around the globe, and the potential links between the rising far-right, Islamophobia, and colonial expansion in Palestine.
Opening remarks will be delivered by HE Lolwah Rashid Al Khater, Minister of State for International Cooperation of Qatar and Dr. Ahmet Alibašić, Director of the Center for Advanced Studies.

- David Hearst, Editor in Chief of Middle East Eye and former foreign leader correspondent of The Guardian, who covered the siege of Sarajevo
- Refik Hodžić, Expert on transitional justice, who worked with International Criminal Tribunal for Yugoslavia in The Hague
