The Role of Muslim Scholarsand Intellectuals in Europe

3-4 OCTOBER 2025
Faculty of Islamic Studies, Pristina

In the contemporary European context, Muslim scholars and intellectuals play a crucial role in shaping religious discourse, fostering interfaith dialogue, addressing socio-political challenges, and contributing to academic and public debates. Their engagement is pivotal in countering stereotypes, advocating for social justice, and ensuring that Islamic teachings remain relevant to the diverse and evolving European landscape. Given the increasing visibility of Muslims in Europe and the challenges they face, this conference seeks to explore the contributions, responsibilities, and challenges of Muslim scholars and intellectuals in European societies.

Historically, Muslim intellectuals have influenced European thought in various fields, from philosophy and science to theology and law. Today, they continue to engage with issues such as identity, integration, religious pluralism, and the role of Islam in secular democracies. The discourse on Islam in Europe is often shaped by external narratives; therefore, it is essential to amplify the voices of Muslim scholars who contribute to academic, religious, and public discussions in an informed and constructive manner.
